Will Ferrell...This Generation's Chevy Chase?

I know that the above is a bold statement, but I have to believe it makes for an interesting argument. I grew up on Chevy Chase and believe him to be one of the best ever at the improv type humor. Anytime Chevy was on Saturday Night Live, you knew to expect the unexpected, and of course his movies like Fletch, and Caddyshack, speak for themselves. Since Chevy fell off the scene, as they all do, I have to believe that no one else has even come close to the masterful comedy of Will Ferrell. I literally laugh as soon as I see him on camera, and he never dissapoints. He has movies like Old School, Anchorman(maybe my favorite comedy since Fletch), Night at the Roxbury, just to name a few, that are instant classics. I am not going to dig too deep here, but I am curious what other people think about this...

This clip alone from Saturday Night Live supports my argument. Enjoy!

Here's the deal: Chevy Chase was awesome for a span of about ten years: roughly 1975-1985, then he became a piece of shit with little to no sense of humor.

Will Ferrell is a funny motherfucker, and hopefully will continue to be as long as he doesn't try to go the Jim Carrey route and do "serious" movies.

I think that is where Chevy, Jim Carrey, Billy Crystal, and countless other comedic actors go wrong: They begin to take themselves too seriously. That is fucking toxic and hard to get rid of, apparently.
